All About Zines and How They Can Help Sexual Assault Survivors
A zine is self-published, pamphlet-like publication that is usually made in small batches and distributed in limited circulation. Zines originated as an act of resistance to undermine the established literary system, led by black writers and artists. They have been and continue to be used to inform, educate, challenge social issues, self-express, and advocate politically. Survivors can also use zines as a method to communicate their feelings, share their story, educate about trauma and violence, and advocate for social and /or political change.
Create Your Own Zine
Led by Survivors.org's Fall 2024 Outreach and Admin Intern, Angie O’Connor, this campaign focuses on the history and use of zines and how to make your own. Join us on Wednesday, March 26th, for a special Zine edition of our Trauma-Informed Art Workshop, where we will be making our own zines together with a group of other survivors.
